24 affordable housing units

AROS were approached by a private developer to assess the possibilities of increasing the development capacity of a brownfield site close to Warrior Square Station. Starting with an existing outline consent of 12 flats on the site, a planning approval for 24 flats was obtained for a 100% key worker housing project. The uncompromising modern design and housing type faced significant local opposition and was praised by both the housing association involved and by the planning committee. The project featured in an article in the Architects Journal about the challenges of constructing volume housing in established low density middle income areas. The project aims with council support to set a benchmark for much needed affordable housing in the area.
