This extensive refurbishment to a compact Georgian townhouse expands the ground floor into the garden, which becomes an external room to the building accessed via a series of stairs and terraces, leading to an external dining terrace. A full width basement extension under the existing house and garden provides an additional bedroom, office and storage. A top lit structural glass staircase is the focus of the scheme and casts diffuse light down into the basement whilst freeing up the main building to accommodate open plan living. The project featured at The Design Awards (Best living space 2010), and has been published in ES Homes and Property and House and Garden magazine.
